TCP 115
Synopsis
- TCP port 115 is assigned to SFTP (Simple File Transfer Protocol) defined in RFC 913—distinct from the SSH-based SFTP.
- It was implemented by legacy sftpd servers on some older UNIX systems and network appliances, but is now largely obsolete and rarely seen in modern environments.
- In current practice, mainstream file-transfer software uses SSH File Transfer Protocol over TCP 22 instead, so active services on TCP 115 usually indicate an old RFC 913 SFTP deployment.
