UDP 47809
Synopsis
- UDP/47809 is used in the wild by BACnet/IP (Building Automation and Control Networks) as an alternate BACnet port (often referred to as 0xBAC1), alongside the default 47808.
- Real-world deployments using 47809 include Tridium Niagara (AX/N4) JACE controllers and supervisors when configured for BACnet/IP on that port.
- Johnson Controls Metasys BACnet/IP networks and gateways, as well as Contemporary Controls BASrouter/BBMD devices, are also commonly seen operating BACnet on UDP/47809 when set to an off-default port.
- Field observations show Siemens, Honeywell, and Delta Controls BACnet devices responding with BACnet BVLC on UDP/47809 in production building automation systems.
- Security note: Exposed BACnet on UDP/47809 has been abused for DDoS amplification and for unauthorized reading/alteration of building control points; it should be restricted to trusted networks.
