UDP 48899
Synopsis
- UDP port 48899 is used by Hi-Flying (HF) Wi‑Fi UART modules—particularly the HF-A11 family such as HF‑LPT100 and HF‑LPB100—for LAN discovery and configuration.
- Hi-Flying’s configuration tools (often named “UART WiFi” or “HF SmartLink”) broadcast to 48899 and receive replies containing the signature string “HF-A11ASSISTHREAD.”
- OEM products that embed these modules (various low-cost smart plugs, LED controllers, and serial‑to‑WiFi adapters based on HF‑LPT100/HF‑LPB100) expose the same UDP 48899 discovery interface.
- This port/protocol has been targeted in the wild: scanners look for the “HF-A11ASSISTHREAD” response on 48899, and some firmware versions allowed unauthenticated changes to device configuration, enabling takeover or reconfiguration.
