UDP 7001
Synopsis
- OpenAFS (and legacy IBM/Transarc AFS) uses UDP port 7001 for the afs3-callback service, part of AFS’s Rx protocol.
- In real deployments (e.g., university and research AFS cells), OpenAFS clients listen on UDP 7001 so AFS fileservers can send cache-invalidation callbacks when files change.
- Many OpenAFS packages on Linux, Windows, and macOS rely on this port as part of normal AFS client-server operation.
