TCP 444
Synopsis
- TCP port 444 is officially assigned to the Simple Network Paging Protocol (SNPP).
- Paging carriers such as Spok (formerly USA Mobility/Amcom) and American Messaging operate SNPP gateways on this port to accept pager messages.
- Enterprise paging software like NotePage PageGate runs an SNPP server on TCP 444 by default for inbound/outbound paging.
- Monitoring/alerting tools including Ipswitch WhatsUp Gold can send notifications via SNPP to port 444 to trigger on-call pagers.
- The port is not widely tied to exploitation beyond potential abuse for unsolicited pager messages.
