TCP 30004
Synopsis
- ADS-B aircraft-tracking software commonly uses TCP port 30004 for Beast-format input.
- dump1090 (both dump1090-fa from FlightAware and dump1090-mutability) listens on 30004 to accept Mode-S “Beast” binary data from hardware like the Mode-S Beast or Radarcape, or from another feeder/decoder.
- readsb (a modern fork/alternative to dump1090) likewise uses 30004 as the Beast TCP input port.
- In real deployments (e.g., FlightAware PiAware, ADS-B Exchange and multi-feeder stacks), services often chain decoders by feeding Beast data into 30004 while outputting on 30005 or SBS/BaseStation on 30003.
- No notable hacking or exploitation patterns are specifically tied to TCP/30004 beyond the general risk of exposing decoder feeds to the public Internet.
